Italy That Feels Like Home
Some journeys make you feel like a tourist.
Others make you feel at home.
And then there’s Italy: sometimes it’s not what you imagine – and that’s exactly why it can surprise you and turn out even better.
My name is Kinga Anna Boragina.
I grew up in a small town in Southern Italy called Pizzo, but for the past five years I’ve also lived in Norway, where I teach Italian. Not just the language itself, but everything that comes with it: culture, connections, daily life, atmosphere.
What Norway Taught Me
Norway has taught me so much.
And if today I love Italy even more, it’s also thanks to my students: their curiosity, their questions, their respect and openness. Through them, I’ve learned to look at my own country with fresh eyes.
Why Holidays Weren’t Enough
Every time I went back to Italy for a holiday, I realized it wasn’t quite enough. Not because the moments weren’t beautiful, but because I missed the everyday life.
I missed stopping at the market and chatting with the people selling fruit.
I missed asking for directions and ending up talking about life.
I missed walking into a café and hearing: “The usual?”
I even missed the smell of Sunday lunch filling the narrow streets.
It wasn’t the monuments or the famous sights I longed for.
What I missed was the real Italy: spontaneous, warm, close. The Italy that makes you feel as if you’re in the middle of an Italian film without a script.
A New Chapter
And it’s exactly this longing that has brought me to a new phase of my life.
From this year, I’ve chosen to spend most of the year living in Italy.
I will, however, continue to return to Norway, because that’s where I want to carry on what matters most to me: creating authentic linguistic and cultural experiences. Not just courses, but Italian days and gatherings where you learn through food, music, stories – and above all, real human connection.
What You’ll Find Here
On this site, I’ll be sharing not only my courses and events, but also articles and reflections for anyone who dreams of the authentic Italy:
- practical tips for traveling and moving around like a local,
- cultural and linguistic curiosities,
- inspiration for experiencing Italy in everyday life, not just as a tourist.
Because learning a language is never just about words – it’s about learning a way of living.
